Created for a professional couple and their growing family, Laidlaw is a warm, well-considered home designed to support both the demands and the pleasures of everyday family life.
The clients were drawn to the familiarity and elegance of Hamptons architecture but wanted a home that felt contemporary, individual and suited to Brisbane’s climate. The result is a modern interpretation of the style – its recognisable character, a lighter material approach, and carefully judged moments of luxury.

The Client Brief
Outdoor living was central to the brief. Interior and exterior spaces needed to come together as one continuous living environment – a home for entertaining, gathering and enjoying the outdoors with ease, supporting the informal way the family wanted to live.
Our Solution
Natural light does much of the work. Generous openings bring brightness deep into the living spaces, while the planning creates an easy connection between kitchen, dining, living and outdoors – open and relaxed, yet connected even as family life moves between rooms.
The interior balances family practicality with a refined finish: quality fixtures and considered detailing bring a sense of luxury without formality, every element durable enough for a growing family.
Behind the Build
Laidlaw was delivered through O’Shea & Sons’ Design and Build service – one cohesive project from early design direction through to construction and completion. Collaboration between building designer, interior designer, builder and clients kept the architectural and interior decisions connected at every step.
